Hi everybody.

1. I try to learn by Physical Modeler , but in the Learn Server is missing model.

2. Is it possible to creat in the Physical Modeler folowing model, please see attached file? If yes, how can I creat curve / intersection / mesh ?

3. How can I creat the same model in the Analytical Modeling?

4. How can I creat the concrete  and steel vault , next intersection the vault with other elements and how can I to create mesh.

5. Any arches, vaults.

Thank you. Katarina

Very big moments

Please see the STAAD model attached. At the ground level I tried modelling a beam with openings supporting 2 levels of slabs.  I've done this using offsets and rigid members. You can select geometry range from Y=-1.4 to -.069 to see where the problem is. The moments are very big, what might be wrong?

Solid Element analysis Stress Summary

$

Dear Folks,

I am using Solid Elements for analysis & design block foundation for machine. As I understood from various literature that Sxx, Syy, Szz are normal stresses in the Global X, Y, Z directions respectively. The negative value would mean compressive stress and positive would mean tensile. Now if I am reading Solid center Stress summary where it is showing only maximum stress values as –ve values. That means its max compressive stress & no mention of any +ve (tensile) stress however if I check graphically solid stress contours there are traces of +ve (tensile) stresses.

Now my queries are:

1) Is there something wrong with summary table we are getting in staad ?

2) Should we refer summary only for max compressive stress ?

3) Should we refer only graphically solid stress contours for correct stress values ?

STAAD Foundation Advanced Offset Footings - Reinstatement

I get the following message when trying to do an offset footing.  I have a building on the boundary so have no option but to offset.  Am I better to download an older version of the software?  Anybody have a rough idea of time before this is reinstated?

Buckling Load Factors accessed from VBA

It turns out that the OpenStaad does not have the full functionality of the Staad program when it comes to buckling analysis. To streamline our workflow we would like to somehow use VBA through excel to read the applied load factors from the buckling analysis. There is no direct OpenStaad command to do this so we are looking for creative VBA workarounds. Thoughts?

Hi everybody.

I have  question about import model to Staad - connect edition.

I need help with following problems: Import between new Staad and AutoCAD and MicroStation.

I used way from  Bentley Learn  (Send Model Data between STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition and ISM).

When I export 3D autoCAD model and 2D model from MicroStation, the program stop working. I cannot find how can I to save model to format ism.dgn.

Please see attached files. Thoughts please?

Thanks for help.

Many thanks  Katarina

Deflection animation

I am just a learner ... so in a long span rcc beam abt 12m there was no deflection in animation but as I placed a cross beam over long beam at center , major deflection is now showing in animation . Is it due to the long beam splitted in two segments and assigning same deflection value(18mm) of long beam to segmented beams . What is the right way now?

FEM of water tank analysis

Hi everyone,

I am facing a problem, when a tank is modeled with plate element with varying triangular load on wall & wall with varying height. The Moment in the elements at points where there is change in height are abnormally high. This may be observed from the attached model  (Refer Plate Nos 193 & 571). Is there any thing wrong with the modeling?. or else how to tackle this problem.  For the Staad model refer attached link.

STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition Joint Load GUI Default values

Dear Folks,

I am using STAAD.Pro CONNECT Edition, the trouble I am facing is while putting joint loads using GUI, staad takes erratic value automatically. E.g. if we input some value only as FY=10.50 but staad takes it as Fz=0.5, Mx=0.50, My=0.50, Mz=0.50, ref snap attached;

Similar troubles are with load on member.

If anyone is aware of the fix of this problem then please respond. Your response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you !

STAAD Foundation Advanced Beam Designer and Pile Spring Definition

I have followed the video on www.learn.bently.com for a Pile Supported Mat Foundation. The example shows how to design grade beams connected to piles by using the Beam Designer tab in the Main Navigator. Why is this tab not available, am I doing something wrong?

The attached screen capture shows the design example video and my screen so you can see the difference.

I need to control the rotational stiffness between the piles and grade beams, when I go to enter this information in the Pile Spring Definition table it is shaded blue and I cannot edit the data. What am I doing wrong, do do I get access to this data?

STAAD Advanced Foundation Connection Edition - Dead Weight Factor

$

Hi,

In STAAD Foundation Advanced, I specify a multiplier factor for (Self weight + Soil weight) of 1.25 for a load combination as seen below. For the sliding and bearing pressure checks, the program multiplies the (self weight + soil weight) by 1.25 and perform the checks correctly, but for overturning for some reason the program ignores the 1.25 factor for concrete weight (i.e. uses 1.0 factor) and applies the 1.25 factor for soil weight only.

Kind Regards

RAM connection output still has errors in V12

Just FYI everyone, the 12.00.01.40 release of RAM Connection still has the longstanding problem of generating garbage values for plate sizes in the printed output. Does this pretty consistently for shear tabs on beams and gussets in the CBB joint type, in case any of y'all weren't aware.
