Tension members in Staad
Good Day,I have attempted the direct analysis method on a steel structure I have to design, however I have the following queries as it relates to the effect tension only members will have on the...

Dear RAM team. I would like to ask you the following:Is the creep coefficient that RAM is using for the Time history analysis the same as defined by the Eurocode 2? Thanks a lot, regards.

Yes, that 0.85 value is from the LRFD 3rd edition which is the code you referenced in the first post. If you want to use other codes choose them under Criteria - Design. As noted in several other...

Was it stabile before modeling the foundations (that would be unusual)? For more on solving instabilities, see this post:RAM Instability In Finite Element AnalysisMost likely you have some concrete...
View ArticleRE: RAM Concrete - Stabilty
Yes, it was stable prior to the foundation addition. The foundation below was modeled as a two-way plate to be designed in concept. The floor is a two-way flat plate so there are no beams to pin.

If it's instable in Ram Frame make sure you have the diaphragm out-of-plane stiffness considered under Criteria - Diaphragm and verify if the lower level mesh has a node at the supported column.

I didn't try that because it was two-way, but it is still unstable.

Assuming none of the other tips on the instability wiki help then we would need to see the model to tell. The Secure File Upload link below left is the simplest way to send it.

I appreciate the help. I did attempt all this in this wiki prior to posting. I would like to clarify this happening during concrete analysis, not the frame module.
