I think you are using the Toolkit mode. That can only do vertical load analysis. I would suggest that you use the Plant Foundation Mode instead which can do lateral load analysis, has more soil options...

You can sub-divide the members if that helps, otherwise the member force query is what I would use.

I mentioned about load case 10 as the warning included that load case number. So if this load is something that in reality, cannot act in opposite direction, you don’t need to worry about it from the...

Thanks for your response. I would rather not subdivide the member as it is a soil retaining structure with distributed loads so subdividing it will make altering the load distributions quite difficult....

Honestly no. We are planning to migrate the functionality of all our structural analysis and design applications into STAAD(X) which will have the best of several of our general purpose analysis and...

Seth, Thanks for your reply. So in other words, I would be better off in the long run directing my attention towards learning STAAD as opposed to Microstran? Anthony

There will be a long period of time where we will let users use STAAD(X) and also continue to use their legacy software (Microstran, Ram Elements, etc). No sense in leading STAAD.pro now because...

An approximate way to get the maximum load carrying capacity is to do a steel design and look at the interaction ratio. For any member, the reciprocal of that value tells you how much additional...
