BEAM BMD & SF DIAGRAMS FOR ENVELOPE
Dear All,
I've STAAD software Select Series-5 (20.07.10.66) installed in my system. After analyzing a STAAD file, I am unable to see the BMD & SF diagrams for envelope. It provides these diagrams for all other load combinations but not for envelope. However, these graph were easily available in previous versions of this software. Kindly advise.
RE: BEAM BMD & SF DIAGRAMS FOR ENVELOPE
Hello Imran Akram,
As you mentioned above your problem about not being able to get SFD and BMD for envelope but after reviewing your model I found no such issues. Here you can see the attached screen shots as it worked totally fine in my STAAD, I selected few beams in order to view the results in a summarized way.
Concrete slab modelling with triangular plates
Hi,
I am looking to understand how the design moments and shears are to be calculated when using triangular plates for concrete slab analysis.
For triangular plates the results are reported wrt the local plate axes. The 'Global moments' are also available from staad. However, how do the global moments relate to the twisting moments Mxy ? is this included ? or the global moments are purely the transformed local moment considering the skew angles of plates?
I have searched numerous discussions on web although no clear answer was found. In addition staad technical reference material also does not talk about deriving concrete design forces from the plate results. The Wood-Armer or Clarke-Neilson methods are not mentioned. These require the twisting moments Mxy to be added to the out-of-plane moments Mx or My in global directions. This only leaves an option of using quadrilateral elements with local axes aligned with the global rebar directions.
Although for more complicated structures it is not always possible to use quad elements and triangular plates are more preferable to generate quick and uniform meshing - especially the parametric meshing feature is useful. However, I am confused as to how the global orthogonal moments, shears and axial loads are determined when using trigular meshing in staad in relation to full consideration of twisting moments Mxy.
Please share your thoughts.

Just updated the connection client software up to 10.00.07.19 but same issue with crushing.
Associating the RAM SS project file through cloud services
Hi,
Any time I try to associate the project in RAM SS I get an error message saying: "a problem caused program to stop working correctly" even though I'm signed into my connection client account.
Please advise.

Hello Mr.Imran Akram,
I not sure why you are facing such issues as in my case I do no find any such problems as the same model you uploaded is working fine in my device. I would further suggest you to perform the analysis again and before going to post processing mode select the desired envelope you are willing to view the results for. I have attached the screen shots below:

Please visit the link: communities.bentley.com/.../358442 and see if this discussions can help you solve your query or else you can upload your model so that someone here can apply the wind load for you here in the community and help to resolve your query.

RE: Wind load on Open Structure
Hi,
For applying wind load, you need to first generate the Load definition and then only you can apply the same in Load cases details.
Though STAAD has ASCE 7 - 10 Wind Load generator but for Indian Code you need to manually calculate the Intensity vs. Height in respective units and add them into the Wind load definition. For open structure, you can switch on the toggle while applying these definitions in Load Case Detail.
For more information you can refer article 5.31.3 from the technical reference manual SS6 which can be downloaded using the following thread.

RE: Error message:“The information in STAADPRO.INI is not in the expected format"
You will find StaadPro20.07.11.ini in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 folder. You need delete the .ini file.
You can go to C:\SProV8i SS6 folder and find a StaadPro20.07.11.ini file copy it and paste it in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 folder.
Please make sure that you login with as administrator and close STAAD.Pro application while executing the process.
Error message:“The information in STAADPRO.INI is not in the expected format"
When we start STAAD Pro, we are getting error message as: “The information in STAADPRO.INI is not in the expected format. Using basic unit types.” And when I press ok to continue I got another error window showing details of An unhandled exception occurred: Root element is missing…….” Please guide us to solve the problem please.
