RE: Modelling of Bearings in Bridges

Hi,

Approach 1: You can use Generate Surface Meshing option from geometry menu bar to model bearings using finite elements (or plates). For Elastomeric material, you can define a new material from General > Material > Create or by the use of STAAD Editor. I hope you have all the relevant data related to material properties.

Approach 2: You can also model bearings in the form of supports. A Fixed But or Multi-linear springs depending upon the properties of the material.

Pier and cap can be modeled using beam member if the shape is not complex. But if it is, again you need to adopt finite element mesh to model it.
