Designing the connection as a column splice is a good solution for now. The only problem that I see is that the edit page only allows me to specify one value for the gauge distance. So it locates the 4 bolt columns equally. In actuality, for a 400mm flange, I would specify a 160mm interior gauge across the middle and then the two outside bolt rows would be spaced 75mm off of the interior rows. Having to specify an equal gauge requires me to specify g = 103mm and Leh = 45mm to get the 400mm wide flange plate width. This causes the interior rows of bolts to be positioned along the edge of the interior flange plate and too close to the web. We should be able to specify a gauge for the interior columns of the bolts and then a pitch spacing for the two outside columns of bolts. (Maybe another enhancement).
