Hi Sye, thanks for the reply. You are right but if we assume the forces are transferred to the ground thro end nodes and no force in the beam, will create tension/compression at the column locations due to overturning of the box(similar to any 3-D structure). If the force transfer is thro the bottom chord then it may eliminate this tension in the foundation. All this I am trying because in one of my structure we have huge tension at column location and foundation is not good enough to carry this. Trying to take advantage of this assumption to eliminate/reduce the tension in the foundation.
